چکیده

We investigate (2+1)-d Hamiltonian lattice gauge theory using a class of Hamiltonians having exactly known vacuum states. These theories are shown to have a wide range of possible classical continuum limits which differ from that of the standard Kogut-Susskind Hamiltonian. This conclusion is at variance with some previously published results. We examine the quantum continuum behavior of these theories by both analytic and numerical methods including plaquette space integration and standard Monte Carlo techniques. String tension and variational estimates for the JPC = 0++ glueball spectra are presented for SU(3). We find that in spite of the wide range of classical behavior predicted, these theories correspond to only two distinct quantum systems in the weak coupling limit. One of these quantum limits gives string tensions and glueball states which show scaling in weak coupling which agrees with the perturbative prediction for the (2+1)-d problem. The Shifted Coupled Cluster Method : a New Approach to Hamiltonian Lattice Gauge Theories

It is shown how to adapt the non-perturbative coupled cluster method of many-body theory so that it may be successfully applied to Hamiltonian lattice SU (N) gauge theories. The procedure involves first writing the wavefunctions for the vacuum and excited states in terms of linked clusters of gauge invariant excitations of the strong coupling vacuum. The fundamental approximation scheme then co...

Separation of Variables and Vacuum Structure of N = 2 Susy Qcd

We show how the method of separation of variables can be used to construct integrable models corresponding to curves describing vacuum structure of four-dimensional N = 2 SUSY Yang-Mills theories. We use this technique to construct models corresponding to SU(N) Yang-Mills theory with Nf < 2N matter hypermultiplets by generalising the periodic Toda lattice. We also show that some special cases o...

Transverse Lattice Approach to Light-Front Hamiltonian QCD

We describe a non-perturbative procedure for solving from first principles the light-front Hamiltonian problem of SU(N) pure gauge theory in D spacetime dimensions (D ≥ 3), based on enforcing Lorentz covariance of observables. A transverse lattice regulator and colour-dielectric link fields are employed, together with an associated effective potential. We argue that the lightfront vacuum is nec...

Constructing States and Effective Hamiltonians in Lattice QCD

We formulate SU(3) Hamiltonian lattice QCD in terms of the plaquette variables and determine the relevant subspaces of the Hilbert space for the vacuum wave functional and its approximations. We analyze the oneand two-plaquette problems. In an earlier paper [1] we formulated the fully gauge-fixed SU(N) lattice gauge Hamiltonian and studied the one-plaquette problem for several values of N . Thi...

Approximated seventh order calculation of vacuum wave function of 2+1 dimensional SU(2) lattice gauge theory

Using the coupled cluster expansion with the random phase approximation, we calculate the long wavelength vacuum wave function and the vacuum energy of 2+1 dimensional Hamiltonian SU(2) lattice gauge theory (LGT) up to the seventh order. The coefficients μ0 , μ2 of the vacuum wave function show good scaling behavior and convergence in high order calculations. PACS indices: 11.15.Ha, 12.38.Gc
